general questions
1) WHAT EXACTLY ARE ASHURI?
- Ashuris are a closed species created by hakiren. Closed species are a species that can be made by anyone and are usually sold as adoptables by the species owner. What makes a species are their traits and lore, so each of them can be unique in their own way. With a closed species you can create a community and use your own "adoptable" to roleplay or make-up stories for them.
2) HOW CAN I GET AN ASHURI?
There are different ways to obtain an Ashuri:
1) They are mainly sold as adoptables on hakiren's deviantart which can be bought through auctions or a set-price.
2) Ashuri moderators also sell them as adoptables on deviantart. (You can view links to their page in the ❣️ Ashuri Team page.)
3) They can be bought from people who are either selling or trading their Ashuri. There is an Ashuri "Trading Center".
4) They can also be bought from guest artists who are invited as guest designers for Ashuris and sold on deviantart.
5) You can order a custom-designed Ashuri from hakiren. They can only be ordered if customs are open.
6) Lastly, you can purchase a MYO ticket from the MYO events and either draw your own Ashuri or pay others to design the Ashuri for you.
*Ashuris designed with a MYO ticket must be approved by hakiren or a moderator.

lore questions
1) WHERE DO ASHURIS LIVE? / CAN THEY REPRODUCE? / WHAT IS _____ etc.
- All these questions can be answered in the "Origin & Guidebook" page.
2) DO GUARDIANS KILL SLAYERS?
- The short answer: no. The expectation that guardians have for one another is to never kill the target but instead neutralize them. They're usually specially trained to deal enough damage to effectively disarm & take in the slayer for capture, at which point they'd be handed off to an executioner who ultimately determines their fate (often they're carted off to the underworld to serve their punishment).
3) how is a slayer classified / distinguished? what if my ashuri kills on accident / in self-defense?
A slayer is a rank of ashuri that deliberately and mercilessly slaughters other ashuris. This is considered dishonorable among ashuris, as the traditional way of battling is to fight only until your opponent is too weak to continue, at which point you can siphon a portion of their life essence and leave them alive. Slayers, however, deprive them entirely of their life essence by forcefully removing and destroying their Syoran, killing them.
An ashuri that kills only one or two other ashuris may not necessarily be considered a slayer, especially if these deaths were accidental, an act of self-defense, or otherwise done without malicious intent.
However, an ashuri that demonstrates no remorse for their actions and continues to kill will be designated a slayer and actively hunted by guardians and executioners.

4) are soul keepers and slayers the same thing?
- A soul keeper is an ashuri that possesses at least one other Syoran that is not their own.
- A slayer will always be a soul keeper, because they deliberately seize the Syoran of other ashuri.
However, a soul keeper will not always be a slayer. If the Syoran was obtained as a gift, by accident, or with regrets, the ashuri can be a soul keeper and also remain as their designated non-slayer rank.

5) can an ashuri lose their weapon?
The only way for an ashuri to lose their weapon is if they are killed - when their Syoran gets crushed and absorbed, their weapon is also passed to the ashuri who took their Syoran. Otherwise, it's impossible for an ashuri to lose their weapon. For example, if their weapon gets tossed far away by or stolen by their opponent, then the ashuri can simply despawn their weapon back into their Syoran and then re-summon the weapon into their hand.
6) would any ashuri that is an accomplice to a slayer be considered a slayer as well?
No, only ashuris that actively seize Syorans with malicious intent by themselves are considered Slayers. Even if another non-slayer ashuri is keeping a Slayer hidden or protected, or if a non-slayer ashuri helps a Slayer heal their wounds, that ashuri is not considered a Slayer.
7) can ashuri ranks be changed? / are they set in stone?
Ashuri ranks can be changed. They are not necessarily assigned for life. For example, a Slayer that decides to atone and accept punishment for their crimes may eventually be welcomed into a new non-slayer rank. Or if a Fighter ashuri decides to embrace their bloodlust fully and begin killing other ashuris, then they would become a Slayer.
8) CAN ASHURIS GAIN SOUL KEEPER MARKINGS AT A YOUNG AGE?
- Yes! Young ashuri children can get soul keeper markings at a young age as long as they've already been cursed by the ashuri curse.
But being cursed at a young age isn't really common and is rare.

10) CAN MY ASHURI HAVE SIDE CHARACTERS?
- Absolutely! But certain rules must be followed if you're planning on of making side characters for your Ashuri.
What are side characters? : A side character is a character in a narrative that is not the focus of the primary storyline,
but appears or is mentioned in the story enough to be more than just a minor character or a cameo appearance.
▪ Side characters are considered: family, friends, parents, children, babies, relatives, deceased characters, etc.
▪ You are allowed to have side ashuri(s) for story/fun/roleplaying, but they are not official Ashuri(s) and cannot have their own individual profiles.
▪ You can only create a side character if you have an officially approved Ashuri that can be found in the ashuri masterlist.
▪ If you create side ashuri(s) then they must always be linked and posted together in one toyhouse profile with the main ashuri.
▪ You do not need ashuri MYO slots for side character ashuri(s), but no monetary gain is allowed from these side characters.
▪ You are not allowed to commission art for side characters or receive "gift art" of them (unless your ashuri and someone else's ashuri are a couple, related, are friends or are in any type of relationship with each other | in this case you can accept gift art from them ), but personal art is allowed.
▪ You can turn side character ashuri(s) into main characters by using ashuri MYO slots.

11) WHAT ARE SOUL WEAPONS / SOUL KEEPER WEAPONS?
- Soul Weapons are the individual weapons that belong to every ashuri and are also linked and bound to the Syoran. Upon receiving the curse mark, ashuris receive the ability to summon a weapon known as the "Soul Weapon" that can be used to fight or protect themselves. In this early stage, the weapon is still rudimentary, taking the form of a simple melee weapon such as a katana, dagger, spear, etc.
- Soul Keeper Weapons are weapons that used to belong to another ashuri. Once an ashuri's syoran is taken by another ashuri the weapon will also be taken together with the syoran since they are bound together.

12) DO SOUL KEEPER WEAPONS appearance STILL RESEMBLE THEIR ORIGINAL OWNERS OR DO THEY CHANGE OVERTIME TO MATCH THEIR CURRENT OWNER?
- The Soul Keeper Weapon's appearance will retain the resemblance of it's previous original owner.
13) WHERE CAN I CHANGE MY ASHURIS RANK?
- To change your Ashuri's rank all you have to do is fill-out the form in ➜ this journal and post it there. (deviantart account required)
14) When an ashuri dies do they have a funeral like humans? | what happens to their bodies?
▪ You can read about ashuri bodies and what happens to them when they die/are killed in the Ashuri Guidebook ➜ [Origin & Guidebook]
15) CAN ASHURIS HAVE SPECIFIC ANIMAL ALLERGIES?
- Originally, ashuris weren't prone to animal fur/animal allergies since they are part animal but were still prone to other allergies like pollen, food, etc. But if that Ashuri is born from a human and ashuri parents, and the human does have allergies to specific animals then these allergies can also appear to their children/descendants. So if someone in the ashuri's ancestry was a human with specific animal allergies then the descendant ashuris are most-likely gonna have allergies due to the genes.
16) CAN ASHURIS HAVE ALLERGIES/FOOD ALLERGIES?
- Yes they can! They can have different types of allergies, food allergies, insect allergies, pollen allergies, etc. But they are never life threatening since ashuris are half-immortal. But even if it doesn't kill them allergies will still make them feel uneasy with symptoms such as itchiness, coughing, rashes, aches, and other allergy symptoms. They can even pass out or even have rashes/stomach aches for days.
17) CAN ASHURI FLAMES GLOW OR EMIT LIGHT?
- Ashuri flames can in fact slightly glow, but they don't glow too much to the point where they can emit light. The glow is very faint and it does not replace a torch.
18) ARE ASHURI FLAMES WARM/HOT?
- Nope, ashuri flames do not release heat in any way and neither can an ashuri touch or feel the flame.
And no, an ashuri can't warm up using their flames during winter or if they're cold.
And no, an ashuri can't warm up using their flames during winter or if they're cold.
19) DO ASHURIS SLEEP WITH FLAME TRAITS CONSTANTLY BURNING?
- Actually they don't! When an ashuri falls asleep both the flame on their ears and tail will be disappear. As they slowly falls asleep their flames get smaller and smaller until it completely disappears, if they're suddenly woken from their sleep the flames will instantly re-appear and start burning again.
20) DO FLAMES REACT TO AN ASHURI'S EMOTIONAL STATE?
- Absolutely! Just like when a dog wags it's tail when it's happy, for ashuri's, their flames movement will start burning rapidly or less depending on the ashuri's mood or how they are feeling. It appears like the flame is alive.
21) CAN YOU PUT OUT THE ASHURI'S FLAMES WITH WATER?
- Nope, that's not possible! Ashuri flames aren't like any ordinary flames, even if an ashuri goes underwater or gets splashed with water, the flame will always stay on it's same form and can never be "turned off" unless the ashuri is sleeping or relaxed.
PROMPT & EVENT questions
1) WHAT ARE PROMPTS?
- Prompts are a monthly event that occurs in the ashuri discord server. Each month there will be a different "prompt", where a specific theme/topic will be prepared for you to draw/write about. Participating in these said points will award you with Ashuri Points (AP) which can then be used to buy various things in the ashuri shops including an ashuri MYO slot.
2) WHAT ARE AP (ASHURI POINTS)?

6) CAN I DRAW NON-ASHURI / HUMANS / OCS FROM OTHER CLOSED SPECIES IN MY PROMPT ENTRY?
- Prompt entries must be focused only on ashuris. Other characters must be drawn in the background and not the foreground. Humans in the foreground are okay but you will not earn extra points for drawing them. Characters that are from other closed species are not allowed. Only drawing ashuris in your entry is preferable!
7) WHAT ARE VOLUNTEERS?
