Guilds and Clans are two types of organizations that are important facets of Ashuri society.
They are available to all members of the ashuri community to create, though bear in mind the key differences between them.
🛡️ GUILDS:
👥 CLANS:
Because Clans are loosely organized, their structure is left to the discretion of the creator.
Different Guilds may also have different sets of rules, structures, and traditions, but they are more strongly governed and are expected to follow three basic laws.
All Guilds are governed by the Guild Council, which is a collective of leaders from many different guilds.
They often convene in order to discuss and report on the state of the world, ashuri laws, slayers, et cetera.
In-Character Guild Protocol:
Most Guilds have a common structure and set of rules that they follow. The following is a sample that you are welcome to use for your own Guild, whether it is word-for-word or only taking some pieces for use.

🛡️ GUILDS:
- Are formal organizations that follow a basic preset structure and set of rules, as established by the Guardian Council.
- Are formally recognized as entities with authority and the license to exercise their powers as necessary.
- This more or less exempts them from certain ashuri laws, as long as they are acting in the best interest of ashuris.
- This also commands respect and deference for Guilds; even so, not every ashuri respects the Guilds...
- Typically have a more intensive entry process and stricter regulations than a Clan.
- Are run by and are predominantly populated with Guardians.
- However, some Guilds allow a limited amount of other ranks to join them or be under their in-house protection.
- Always have a singular mission: protect ashuris. For many Guilds, this means hunting down and imprisoning Slayers.
- Some Guilds have other means of protecting the ashuri population that does not involve imprisoning/punishing Slayers.
👥 CLANS:
- Are informal organizations that do not follow any universal structure or rules.
- They are more or less synonymous with "gangs", "clubs", etc.
- Do not have formal authority as independent, self-governing entities and are subject to ashuri laws.
- That doesn't have to stop them from breaking the law anyway, though. B)
- Can be populated by any rank of ashuris (including Guardians).
- Can center around any subject matter or goal.
- Ex. a Clan for fighters; a Clan for peaceful ashuris; a Clan for book nerds; a Clan of extortionists...

In-Character Guild Protocol:
- All actions taken by a Guild must be in the interest of protecting both the ashuri species and humans.
- No Guild has the right to take the life of an ashuri or a human, regardless of crime or creed.
- Guilds who breach protocol are subject to punishment and/or disbandment, based on the judgment of the Guild Council.

Common Guild Structure
👑 Hierarchy:
Guildmaster > Deputy > Squadron Leader(s) > Mentors > Specialists (i.e. healers, professors) > Members > Trainees
Notes:
- Members are simply Guardians who did not apply to become a Mentor.
- Depending on the size of the guild, Squadron Leader and Mentor can be interchangeable.
(i.e. if the Guild is not large enough to have a full squad)
- Some guild members may possess more than one role.
GUILD RULES
GUILD FACTS
- A Guild usually possesses some kind of magic-protected "holding cell" where captured Slayers can be detained, interrogated, etc.
- This "holding cell" is accessible only to the Guild Court and to the Executioner that the Guild forms a contract with, if the Court determines that the Slayer must face execution.

GUILD RULES
- All members are obligated to the Protocol.
- Trainees must undergo field training, low level missions, and written exams before becoming a fully-fledged Guardian.
- A Trainee is assigned to a Mentor who is responsible for always accompanying and training their Trainee.
- Trainees are never to leave on any mission unattended by their Mentor.
- On-duty Guardians must always be in uniform. Trainees must always don their training uniform.
- Captured Slayers must be escorted directly to the Guild Headquarters for imprisonment. The Guildmaster, Deputy, and Squadron Leader(s) convene to determine the Slayer's punishment. This group is also known as the Guild Court.
- Missions are graded on a letter scale: S, A, B, C, and D, with S being the most dangerous and D being the least.
- Trainees can only attend C and D grade missions.
- Although they are expected to collaborate with the Deputy and Squadron Leader(s), the Guildmaster has the final say in all decisions for the Guild.
- The Deputy is usually the next-in-line to take the place of the Guildmaster.
- Squadron Leader(s) are highly experienced Guardians who lead squads into large-scale and/or dangerous missions.
